Privacy Policy

Last updated: 28 October 2026

Australian Bug Detection Group (“we”, “us”, “our”) provides technical surveillance countermeasures (TSCM) services to corporate, government and private clients. Discretion is central to what we do, and we treat the personal information you share with us the same way we treat our clients’ security: carefully, confidentially and only for the reason you gave it to us.

This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use and protect it, and how you can access or correct it. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

What we collect

When you contact us. If you use the contact form on our website, email us or call us, we collect the details you provide, such as your name, email address, phone number and the content of your message.

When you engage us. To quote and carry out a sweep, we may collect information about you or your organisation, the premises, vehicles or devices to be examined, floor plans, access arrangements and the nature of your concern. Our findings and reports are also personal or commercially sensitive information, and we treat them as strictly confidential.

When you visit our website. Like most websites, ours automatically collects some technical information, such as your IP address, browser type, the pages you visit and how you arrived at the site. This is collected through the services listed under “Cookies and third-party services” below.

We do not ask for more information than we need, and you can contact us without giving your full name. If you are concerned your phone or premises may be compromised, we recommend calling us from a phone outside the area of concern.

How we use your information

We use personal information to:

  • respond to your enquiry and provide a quote
  • plan, carry out and report on the services you engage us for
  • communicate with you about your job, including follow-up
  • operate, secure and improve our website
  • meet our legal, insurance and record-keeping obligations

We do not sell, rent or trade personal information, and we do not use it for marketing to third parties.

Who we share it with

We never disclose your details or the fact that you are our client to anyone else, except:

  • service providers who help us run the business and website (for example, our email, website hosting and security providers), who may only use the information to provide that service to us
  • where you have asked us to, or have agreed
  • where we are required or authorised by law, such as a court order or a lawful request from a law enforcement agency

Cookies and third-party services

Our website uses the following services, which may set cookies or collect technical information when you visit:

  • Google Analytics, to understand how visitors use the site. It collects information such as pages visited and approximate location, not your name.
  • Google reCAPTCHA, to protect our contact form from spam and abuse.
  • YouTube and Google Maps embeds, which load when you view our videos or the map.
  • Trustindex, which displays our Google reviews.
  • Optimole, which delivers the images on our website.
  • Wordfence, which protects the website from attacks and may log IP addresses for security purposes.

These providers handle data under their own privacy policies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and you can opt out of Google Analytics using Google’s browser add-on. The site will still work if you do.

Storage outside Australia

Some of the service providers above, including Google and Microsoft, may store or process information on servers outside Australia, including in the United States. We choose reputable providers and take reasonable steps to make sure your information is protected.

How we protect it

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. Client information, floor plans and reports are kept confidential and access is limited to the people who need it to deliver your job. We keep information only as long as we need it for the purposes above and to meet our legal obligations, and then securely destroy or de-identify it.

Accessing or correcting your information

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it. Contact us using the details below. We will respond within a reasonable time, usually within 30 days. If we cannot give you access, we will explain why.
