What is a bug sweep?

A bug sweep, known professionally as technical surveillance countermeasures (TSCM), is a systematic search of a room, building, vehicle or device for hidden surveillance equipment: listening devices, cameras, GPS trackers and spyware. A professional sweep combines electronic detection with a hands-on physical inspection, because many modern devices record silently and never transmit.

How a sweep works

A confidential conversation. Call us from a phone outside the area of concern and tell us what has happened and what needs checking.
A quote. Every job is quoted individually. Businesses can send a floor plan for a confidential review.
The sweep. Radio frequency analysis, non-linear junction detection, thermal imaging, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth analysis, telephone line testing and a physical search. Depending on the size of the site, a job takes from about four hours to a couple of weeks.
The report. A written report of what was examined and what was found.

  After awhile, a number ofpeople started querying the coincidental things that made a number of us worried about whether a listening bug had been planted in our apartment, I had no idea how to go about testing this out. I was very lucky to start my search with the Australian Bug Detection Group and was pleasantly surprised with the professionalism of Alan Earl.
